Jean HELION, pseudonym of Jean Bichier (1904-1987), painter. - Two autograph letters signed "Bichier", edged with adhesive as well as on the folds: one dated May 22, 1926, in which he wishes to meet André Heurtaux (small angular lack not serious, 1 page in-4) and a second dated December 2, 1927, back from the regiment, about his appearances in the 2nd issue of the art magazine L'Acte "Réflexions après le salon d'automne" and "Nature morte", which are "audacious to say the least" (2 pages in-4). Attached is a draft of an autograph letter from Mme Heurtaux to Hélion (December 1986) asking permission to use the letter of May 22, 1926, which is signed Bichier; Hélion replies, agreeing on condition that it be signed "Jean (Bichier) Hélion", and in which he gives an explanation of his name (two signed pieces, one in January 1987). - A signed letter from November 1935 to André Heurtaux giving his opinion on a salon. - three signed autograph postcards addressed to André Heurtaux in 1937 and 1938 - a signed autograph postcard to Mme Heurtaux on the death of her husband, whom he knew in 1923 "and since then a faithful comrade". - 2 signed letters to Mme Heurtaux (1985 and 1987), relating to the André Heurtaux tribute exhibition, in which he announces that he "has just about lost his sight". - and an autograph copy of a letter from Mme Heurtaux on the death of Jean Hélion.
