ANCIENT RUSSIAN ART COLLECTION OF THE Narychkin FAMILY.
The Narychkin family (Нарышкин in Russian) was an illustrious Russian noble family, allied to the ruling house, Tsar Alexis I having married in 1671 Nathalie Narychkin, a young girl from an ancient boyar family and of great beauty, who became the mother of Peter the Great. The family refused the title of prince, considering themselves superior to other Russian princely families. Nevertheless, they sometimes bore the title of prince abroad, which was not necessary for them in Russia, as they were so well known.
