London, Bradbury and Evans, 1848, in-8, bound in half-basane with corner pieces, decorated ribbed spine, title label, marbled edges. The illustrations, executed according to the author’s very precise instructions, include a frontispiece, an engraved title page with a vignette, and 38 plates by Hablot Knight Browne, including one in mezzotint: “On the Dark Road.” All illustrations have been skillfully reinforced and restored. Rare first edition, first printing, with 8 lines of errata on a separate leaf (additional errata included). - *Master Humphrey’s Clock*. With illustrations by George Cattermole and Hablot Browne. 1840–1841, 3 tomes in 2 in-4 volumes, bound in half-shagreen with corner pieces, ribbed spine decorated with gilt fillets, gilt edges. First edition of this collection of short stories, originally published in 88 weekly installments under the same title, edited by the author from April 1840 to December 1841. Each volume is illustrated with a frontispiece, and the set contains nearly 200 in-text illustrations by George Cattermole and Hablot Knight Browne.
