Maurice POIRSON (1846-1882) - Lot 496
Maurice POIRSON (1846-1882) Woman looking at the sea watercolor Signed lower right 37.5 x 26.5 cm (view) In Maurice Poirson's work, the woman facing the sea becomes a figure of silence. From behind, often motionless, she is not to be seen: she is looking. And in this gaze, the whole painting is concentrated. The sea is not a setting, but an interior space. The horizon stretches thought, dilutes contours and suspends time. The figure, reduced to a simple presence, almost disappears in favor of this luminous expanse. Poirson's painting is all about this balance: little narrative, little anecdote, but a tension between the solitude of the figure and the infinity before him. The woman is no longer a subject, she becomes a point of passage - between the visible world and a form of meditation. Please ask for the condition reports: they are not included in the descriptions.
