Victor VASARELY (1906-1997) - Lot 300
Victor VASARELY (1906-1997) Untitled silkscreen Signed 70 x 70 cm Provenance: Former collection of couturier Jean Louis Scherrer, in his apartment at 1 Place Saint Sulpice, 75006 Paris. This work is particularly important and iconic in the couturier's life. Jean-Louis Scherrer was a friend of the artist Vasarely, and was inspired by this work to create Haute-Couture dresses and a collection. One of the photos shows his wife, Laurence Scherrer, wearing a jacket inspired by this design. Another photo from the family archives shows Jean Louis Scherrer seated in front of the work. This major work for the couturier can also be seen in the Paris salon of the aforementioned apartment, above the fireplace, according to another family archive photo.
