Wooden base.
China has a long tradition of ivory carving. Initially appreciated by the court, these objects were manufactured for export from the 19th century onwards. They are meticulously carved and illustrate major themes of the Chinese decorative repertoire on typical forms such as the brush-holder.
*Ivory specimen (I/A) pre-Convention, prior to July 1, 1947 and therefore compliant with EC regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996 art.2-Wmc, and prior to July 1, 1975 and therefore compliant with the French decrees of May 4, 2017 and January 2022.
To leave the European Union, a CITES re-export permit is required.
