CHRISTO (1935-2020) - Lot 36
CHRISTO (1935-2020) Wool Bales Wrapped, 1969 Graphite drawing Signed and dated lower right 'Christo 1969'. 92.7 x 126.3 cm Provenance : - Former André Bernheim and Claude de Soria Collection - Galerie Meyer-Ellinger Frankfurt, 1996. Note: - In 1969, Christo completed a project entitled "Wrapped Old Bay" for the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. This project involved wrapping part of the gallery building in a huge fabric, temporarily transforming the structure's appearance. As in many of his works, Christo sought to transform the perception of places by enveloping them, creating a new interaction between architecture, the environment and the viewer. This project was a perfect illustration of Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude's artistic approach to redefining spaces and arousing the public's curiosity and contemplation.
