PIERRE LECUIRE - Lot 7
PIERRE LECUIRE See Nicolas de Staël Paris, Pierre Lecuire, 1953, in-8 narrow leaves, illustrated cover in cardboard slipcase. First edition of Pierre Lecuire's first book, born of the poet's collaboration with Nicolas de Staël (1914-1955), who composed a large color lithograph for the cover and two original full-page burins for the occasion. According to the publication leaflet attached to the copy: The "proses" in this work [constituted] the most important text written to date on Nicolas de Staël's painting. Edition of 210 copies signed by the author at the justification, one of 190 numbered on Arches vellum. Enriched with an autograph letter signed by Pierre Lecuire to André Bernheim, in which he justifies the choice of a cardboard box: "One may find the box crude, but (...) this crudeness is the result of unfinished research towards unheard-of and impossible solutions", as well as an autograph dedication also signed by P. Lecuire to the Bernheims: A André et Claude Bernheim amants distincts de cette même peinture. These words whose miracle is only to be the mirror of a miracle. Yours sincerely.
