JAPAN - MEIJI period (1868 - 1912) Oval iron box with inlaid gilded copper filigree decoration in the Komai style of a fortified city in front of Mount Fuji in a reserve on the lid, against a background of lush geometric motifs. The sides are encircled by a frieze of gourds in foliage. Gilded copper interior (wear and missing inside lid).
