Madeleine Rousseau is a member of the Association populaire des amis des musées (APAM), associated with the Musée de l'Homme. From 1937 onwards, she wrote numerous articles on the art of her time, as well as on the non-European arts she collected, for the association's publication, Le Musée vivant. Here she met André Heurtaux's wife.
