Provenance :
- Millon - Jutheau sale, October 3, 1988, lot 16 and reproduced in the catalog.
Reference:
- A similar snuffbox in the Mary and George Bloch collection and sold at Bonham's Hong Kong May 28, 2010, lot 69, which mentions our snuffbox as a reference.
- Another with the same decoration is in the Rietberg Museum, Zurich, Hall, 1993, no. 11.
Note:
- "By a misuse of language, it is mentioned that the sale of June 10 was "under the aegis of Viviane Jutheau" whereas it is a tribute to Viviane Jutheau. All the snuffboxes presented under n- 251 to 392 (with the exception of n-342, as indicated in the catalog) were acquired at sales organized by Me Jutheau. We have not been able to trace the provenance of lots 365, 392 and 336. All the snuffboxes come from the collection of a single Parisian connoisseur. "
Please ask for condition reports before the sale: they are not included in the listings.
